It all started with a phone call to the CEO of Restore Robotics from Ardent Health expressing a dire need for personal protective equipment (PPE) for their 31 hospitals, shortly after the outbreak of COVID-19 in the US. Before long, another urgent call came from a New Jersey client pleading for dozens of ventilators to be delivered to a hospital “hot spot” in less than 12 hours. As more clients called, with the same desperation in their voices pleading for help, we knew we had to act fast.
Restore Robotics quickly joined forces with i-Blason, another Atlanta-based company known for its popular mobile accessories worldwide. With dedicated manufacturing facilities in China, i-Blason had already donated millions of pieces of PPE to the Chinese after the novel coronavirus started spreading like wildfire through the country. Using their dependable supply lines for PPE, the two companies immediately started shipping out KN95 respirators, face masks, isolation gowns, and face shields from China’s shores. Within 3 months, they had shipped over 76 million pieces of PPE to the US.
Recognizing the growing need for PPE as other suppliers struggled to keep up, the two companies formed PurDefense to help offer peace of mind in this uncertain time. PurDefense provides hand sanitizer, protective goggles, isolation gowns, and FDA-approved face masks to businesses and healthcare providers large and small. As more people return to everyday life, grappling with a new normal in the face of the most dangerous virus of the century, PurDefense will be here supplying PPE to Americans when they need it most.
